When something is really good, you hope it will last forever, but it rarely does.
At least when it’s your fault, you can accept it, think that you’ll do better next time, and move on. But what do you do when it isn’t your fault? When you did every last thing you could think of to fix it? And none of it worked.
And then you start to worry that maybe it wasn’t as special or important to everyone else, and maybe it was your mistake to invest so much of your heart into it. So, do you pick up the pieces and keep going on by yourself or just drop it, knowing some things just aren’t meant to be?
It’s not really that the work hasn’t been done, but more the other stuff. The exchanges of love that have dwindled off really hurt the most, because without your family, what else is there?
And the worst part of it all is that maybe you really didn’t do enough, and if you’d just pushed harder, or sooner, maybe everything would still be alright.
There are many fingers you could point, many accusations you could voice, but why? When it comes down to it, it’s broken. And if you’re the only one left standing, maybe you’re the one that did the breaking in the first place. Some things aren’t meant to be. Well what about things that are meant to be but just don’t work anymore?
Umma will still be here, Umma will always be here, even if it’s alone.
